Dr. Cassandra Dickerson is an award-winning designer and innovator, including a patent, U.S. Patent 11,583,470 - Pulmonary Vest for Electro-Sonic Stimulation Treatment. This vest was created to address the symptoms of Cystic Fibrosis. Dr. Dickerson’s role was to research and design the functional textile for the vest.

Dr. Cassandra Dickerson is currently a Lecturer at Morgan State University where she teaches Fashion Merchandising. Dr. Dickerson holds a Ph.D. in Textile Technology Management from North Carolina State University- Wilson College of Textiles.

Dr. Dickerson’s passion and research are in textile design and product development. (design/creating fabric; fiber performance). Through the use of Digital Textile Printing, Dr. Dickerson engineered a textile design of Harriet Tubman on the Twenty-dollar bill. In 2007, while studying at Philadelphia University, she created a patentable, non-woven product and it is the basis of her current research in microencapsulation technology through funding from the MSU Office of Technology Transfer (OTT) Division of Research and Economic Development (DRED) for a Prototype I-Gap Award-Apparel for Slow-Release Topical Administration of Natural Products. Dr. Dickerson has also served as the Principal Investigator on the first national 3D Body Scan project to be held at a predominantly Historic Black College/University (HBCU), funded by Human Solutions and Size North America.

Dr Dickerson has long been an entrepreneur, innovator and creative including Wardrobe and Costume Design in the film and television industries. One of her passions and career goals can be summed up with this statement: ‘I improve the quality of life through textiles’.

Dr. Dickerson also serves as Executive Pastor, alongside her husband of thirty-three years, The Reverend Michael Anthony Dickerson, and they are fondly known as Mama and Dada to their God-given blessing, Khali Dior.
